ABOUT ME

I was born in 1974 and by the age of 14, I was completely hooked on guitars. A year later, I was already on stage with my first band. After finishing high school in 1995, it was clear to me that I wanted to become a guitar maker.

But reality looked different at first. Poor job prospects forced me to rethink. Plan B was an apprenticeship as a carpenter. My focus was on surface finishing, restoration, and precise work with fine, old woods. Looking back, it was the perfect foundation for what was to come.

In 1998, I started making wooden pickguards, initially for myself and soon for others. The first guitars followed, mostly inspired by the classic Telecaster style, like many guitar makers in their early days.

In 2008, I founded UniCut Guitars. Until 2016, the focus was mainly on custom, one-of-a-kind pieces built according to the individual ideas of my clients.

Then came the SHOTO: my own design, my personal signature. The first model saw the light of day in 2016, and a year later, I brought it to the Guitar Summit in Mannheim.

Since then, the SHOTO models have been at the heart of my work. Distinct in look, clear in sound, handcrafted with attention to detail. Just the way it should be.

With the SHOTO, a unique guitar design was born. Reduced to the essentials, inspired by the clean lines of Japanese short swords. Light, direct, and thoughtfully designed. Not to be loud, but to express yourself. In your own way.

The SHOTO is available in various versions such as “Doubleblade,” “Singleblade,” “Air,” and “Bass,” as well as in the three quality levels “Ninja,” “Daimyō,” and “Tenno.”
